Spokane Chinese Association’s Lunar New Year Celebration

xInternational concert pianists and distinguished husband-and-wife duo Archie Chen and Rhona Gouldson-Chen are celebrated arts leaders in our community and beyond. Known for their expressive artistry, cultural depth, and magnetic stage presence, they unite their Taiwanese-American and Irish heritages through dynamic four-hand collaborations that transcend borders.

For this special Lunar New Year celebration presented by the Spokane Chinese Association, they perform original piano duet arrangements of “Reflection” and “Honor to Us All” from Mulan—created exclusively for this event.

These beloved melodies take on new life in their hands. “Reflection” becomes an intimate meditation on identity, courage, and belonging, while “Honor to Us All” sparkles with rhythmic vitality and celebratory spirit. Together, the works form a musical bridge between East and West, honoring heritage while embracing renewal and new beginnings—an especially meaningful tribute as we welcome the Year of the Horse.
