An immersive coaching program exploring the full breadth of piano chamber music \u2014 from Classical trios and quartets to Romantic and 20th-century ensemble works. Students rehearse weekly in small ensembles, receive individual coaching from Dr. Chen, and build toward a public performance at semester’s end. Chamber music is among the most rewarding aspects of musical study, and this course is designed to make it transformative.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n \n

Study the essential piano chamber canon \u2014 piano trios, quartets, and quintets of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven, through to Romantic and 20th-century works.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n

Ensemble Listening<\/h3>\n

Develop the active listening and real-time communication that defines great ensemble playing \u2014 learning to respond, balance, and blend with your fellow musicians.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n

Perform monthly in studio class, gain experience in ensemble settings throughout the term, and present a full movement in a formal end-of-semester recital.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n
