Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Dr. Archie Chen (“I”, “me”, or “my”) collects, uses, and protects the personal information you may provide when visiting www.archiechen.com (the “Website”). I take your privacy seriously and am committed to handling your data with transparency and care. This website is a personal professional site for a pianist, educator, and artistic director — it is not a commercial platform and does not sell products or run advertising.

1. Who I Am

The data controller for this website is:

Dr. Archie Chen
Pianist · Educator · Artistic Director
Email: director@hnmc.org
Website: www.archiechen.com

2. Information I Collect

I collect only the minimum information necessary to respond to your enquiries and improve your experience on the site.

Contact Form Submissions

When you submit a message through the contact form, I collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. This information is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is never shared with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.

Scheduling & Booking

This site uses Calendly to facilitate lesson and consultation bookings. When you book through Calendly, you are subject to Calendly’s own Privacy Policy. Calendly may collect your name, email address, and scheduling preferences. I receive only the information necessary to confirm and manage your appointment.

Automatically Collected Data

Like most websites, this site may collect standard log data including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit. This data is used in aggregate form to understand how the site is used and to maintain its security. It is not used to identify individual visitors.

3. Third-Party Services

This website uses a small number of third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

YouTube

Video content is embedded from YouTube (Google LLC). When you play a video, YouTube may set cookies and collect data per their Privacy Policy. Videos are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode where possible.

Calendly

Booking and scheduling is handled via Calendly, Inc. Data submitted through Calendly is governed by their Privacy Policy. I do not store your Calendly submission data independently.

WordPress & Hosting

This website is built on WordPress. Standard WordPress session cookies are used for site functionality. No personal data is stored in cookies beyond what is technically necessary to operate the site.

4. How I Use Your Information

Information collected through this website is used exclusively to:

  • Respond to enquiries submitted through the contact form
  • Confirm and manage lesson or consultation bookings
  • Maintain and improve the security and performance of the website
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

I do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes, and I never will.

5. Cookies

This website uses a minimal number of cookies. These fall into two categories:

Strictly necessary cookies are set by WordPress for basic site functionality (e.g., session management for the admin area). These do not require your consent as they are essential to the site’s operation.

Third-party cookies may be set by embedded services such as YouTube and Calendly when you interact with that content. You can control third-party cookies through your browser settings or by declining to interact with embedded content.

6. Data Retention

Contact form enquiries are retained only as long as necessary to address your request and any reasonable follow-up, typically no longer than two years. Booking and scheduling data held by Calendly is subject to their own retention policies. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting me directly.

7. Your Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data I hold about you
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restriction — request that I limit how I process your data
  • Portability — receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to processing of your data in certain circumstances

To exercise any of these rights, please contact me at director@hnmc.org. I will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (Ireland) or your local supervisory authority if you believe your data has been handled unlawfully.

8. External Links

This website may contain links to external sites (concert programmes, institutions, recording platforms, etc.). I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.

9. Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the site, technology, or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised date. I encourage you to review this page periodically.
